I kind of got out of the habit of updating over the last…six months or so.

However, I figured finals is a great time to start again!

Well, school’s started, and I’m back!

French is quite the experience, but the most notable thing was certainly picking up the bus (new line!) to campus, when I was running late. Just when the bus seems to be running late, my standing-at-the-bus-stop-friend noticed I’m about to give up and walk to campus (only 20 minutes away). He then helpfully points out that the bus is “always a few minutes late” (not surprising). However, his soothsaying didn’t end there: this stranger successfully predicted the following: “as soon as the Q line crosses this street [gestures], then you’ll instantly see the F line turn on to this street [greature two].” Lo and behold, it happened.

This means that multiple buses in the Unitrans system are late. Not surprising. The surprising aspect - they are all consistently late by the same amount of time, even across various lines!

You’d think it would be pretty easy to just update time tables when things are this consistently off. Hmm.

I feel like I live in a Costco now.

Many of you know me; I’m not organized, but I’m certainly not that disorganized, either. However, moving has changed this. Now, my life is in boxes that surround me. Their ranks continue to grow, making my once large room seem more like the wherehouse from the end of the first Indiana Jones movie, where they put the Ark in the government archives.

So, I haven’t updated in a while. Sorry about that.

I’m certainly not too busy; I’d say that it’s just more that I’m so exhuasted when I get home from my anecdote-free days that there is little to say. That sounded kind of sad!

Regardless, I’ve had a pretty solid weekend. Richard/Aly birthday party last night, lunch with mom/suit shopping today, and, well that’s about it.

Well, on a more exciting note: you should all listen to Okkervil River. I will go so far as to reccomend three tracks: Singer Songwriter, Starry Stairs (wow, they seem to be big on alliterations judging by these first two track titles), and On Tour With Zykos.

While I’m telling you what to do, watch season one of Mad Men. Season two starts next Sunday, and you should be caught up before then. Woo!

Where did the last week and a half go? No one knows! My job actually provides me with even fewer strange anecdotes, at least at this point.

However, Yolobus is quite the opposite. Yolobus is kind of like if Unitrans moved to the sketchy part of town and became abusive. Take this fun story, for example. We’re about to leave the charming metropolis that is Woodland when the bus pulls over just before the highway onramp. I know for a fact that this isn’t a stop, so I think “oh fuck, what’s wrong?” Nothing! Turns out the driver just really really wanted a Coke from 7-11. I’ve got an idea for him: How about, next time, you don’t waste 5 minutes of everyone’s time, and buy your Coke before you get to work! Revolutionary, right?

Also, in an entirely unrelated note, I had two Wikis last night and no hangover this morning! Yay.

Sorry, but I think this will only be of interest to my East Coast readers (hi, Spencer!).

That aside, I noticed a Star Market in Lahaina yesterday. Odd, since I’ve never seen one outside of New England. Whatever. This entry is dumb. The point is, some mediocre grocery store chain from the East Coast decided to open a shop, like, 5,000 miles from any other store it operates. Weird.

Davis always sells out of normal index cards around finals. As a result of waiting until midway through finals week to acquire more cards, I’m stuck with the beauties above. I get blue, pink, or green “color bars” on the back of each card! Would it really be that hard to order some more standard index cards around finals? Eff you, Longs.

I’d like to begin with some background for my out-of-town readers: Mishka’s is a little cafe in downtown Davis. They have grown relatively popular; most customers buy some $2 drink and then camp out for days on end, using the cafe’s outlets to power their MacBooks and MacBookPros while they go on to Pitchfork, Gmail, and muxtape.

Anyways, the cafe’s owner decided to institue “the Rule” a few years back. This rule allocates around 15% of the cafe for traditional cafe activites, as the owner sees it: reading leisure books, newspapers, and socializing. Here’s my first issue: a ‘leisure book.’ To sugguest that a book assigned for a class cannot be enjoyable is problem enough. What’s more, the system for enforcing this seems weak: How is the clerk to know if I’m reading a certain book for a class or for pleasure? This issue is really only a smaller part of my overall problem.

A few weeks ago I went to Mishka’s, ready to study for my econ 162 midterm. I notice that all tables inside and outside are full; “no problem,” I think to myself. “I’ll just wait in the Rule area until a table opens up.” Forty five minutes later, and still no tables inside or outside. I would like to point out that I am the only one in the Rule zone. A clerk approaches and demands that I leave. I explain the situation, but my pathetic story inspires no mercy in her cold heart. Sorry, but there’s no real conclusion to this story. I went home, studied, and took the test the following day.

So, yeah.

I’ve gotten a number of complaints (two, to be exact) about the lack of updates going down. I’d like to apologize. It’s pretty much exclusively due to the fact that finals period is happenin’. As a result, nothing notable happens to me. Except studying.

Expect a rant about Mishka’s no-study zone later tonight.

Last night of production ever for me! Went til 2 a.m., which wasn’t ideal…but hey, it was capped off with a champgne toast. So that’s nice.

The real lesson from this post is: Don’t go to IHOP. Their chicken basket is obscenely salty: on the chicken, on the garlic bread, and (especially) on the soggy fries.

This happens every quarter, so it’s not all that notable. But, I’m going to tell you anyways. So…

I’ll be grocery shopping and pick up some milk. Then I glance at the expiration date and notice that the milk won’t go bad until after finals are over. Essentially, I never realize how soon finals are until the milk carton tells me. As you can see, this means I am an excellent and well-preared student.

I ended up buying a Sigg bottle recently. I want to avoid getting cancer from my Nalgene (and it started smelling bad). But, I’ve come to realize that there is no perfect bottle. Sure, I may not get cancer from a Sigg. However, its aluminum body isn’t translucent. Thus, I end up with water spilt on my hand when I accidentally fill the bottle with too much water.

I’m pointing at the weather because I have been taming it since last June, and will only have it under my control for a few more weeks.

To explain the existence of this blog/tumblr/etc beyond its name: I wrote (well, will write for three more weeks) the weather. Now that I’ve realized how great it is to rant for two or three sentences every weekday (in addition to the hours of verbal ranting that I subject friends, strangers, and squirrels to), I really have no desire to give it up.
